• Plus One Flyers General Membership Meeting

  January 26th, 2012

  The Plus One Flyers General Membership Meeting will be held at 6:00PM at the Four Points Sheraton on Aero Drive next to Montgomery Field.

  The General Membership Meeting this January 26th (6 days away!) is going to be special for two reasons:

  First, we'll have a safety panel consisting of:

  • Steve Nelson from San Diego FSDO
  • Bill Jacobs from SOCAL TRACON
  • Mark Conley from Burbank
  • Kreg Kearley from MYF tower
  • Our very own Plus One Flyers Safety Officer BOB AGRESTO! (He'll be signing autographs! No body parts, please.)

  Second, it's TACO NIGHT! No more floppy pizzas for us.

  The meeting is at the Four Points Sheraton starting at 6pm.

• Plus One Flyers General Membership Meeting

  September 8th, 2011

  The Plus One Flyers General Membership Meeting was held at Gillespie Field on September 8th at 6:30PM. Bob Gannon gave a presentation on his trip around the world. Also on display will be a restored World War II Firefly aircraft. All this, despite the power failure! It actually made things more fun and interesting as everyone came together to help out and deal with the unusual situation.

• Plus One Flyers General Membership Meeting and Board of Directors Election

  June 23, 2011

  The Plus One Flyers General Membership Meeting featuring the annual Board of Directors Election and Membership Survey results presentation was held 6pm Thursday, June 23rd, 2011 at the Four Points Sheraton at 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego CA 92123, with the usual pre-meeting pilot's social pizza and soft drinks.
  
  Congratulations to the following elected directors: Jim Cunning, Glenn Daly, Dave Eby, Scott Kurowski, Larry Massaro, John Sanders and Steve Wright.

• Outstanding Spring General Membership meeting featuring AOPA President Craig Fuller!

  April 18, 2011

  Plus One Flyers was among the AOPA e-Pilot top stories for April 22, 2011.  The Plus One Flyers General Membership meeting featuring AOPA President Craig Fuller's exclusive presentation was perhaps the club's best meeting ever, with great food and pilot networking, fun and entertainment for everyone.  AOPA President Fuller did not disappoint with his lively and informative presentation and Q&A session on current issues and AOPA progress in General Aviation, and he blogged about the club the following day.

  About 300 members attended the meeting at the Crownair hangar, leaving standing room only.  Three club airplanes representing a state-of-the-art G1000 C172S trainer, N372TA, an Aspen-equipped C182RG, N133BW, and a Technically-Advanced-Avionics cross-country SR22 airplane, N8148F, were on display and generated great discussions about avionics, checkouts, and trips to be taken.  Flight training luminaries John and Martha King attended and hobnobbed with Plus One Flyers members.  The catered buffet was well received and completely cleaned out by the end of the evening.  Thanks to Crownair for hosting our meeting, and to everyone who attended and made this event possible!

   

• Winter General Membership Meeting

  January 13, 2011

  Plus One Flyers held their quarterly meeting at the Four Points Sheraton on Aero Drive at 6pm. Featured guest speaker was Mark Easton of Angel Flights. Plus One Flyers President, Scott Kurowski, gave a presentation on the state of the club. There were $100 flight review/training coupons raffled off as door prizes for four lucky member pilots!

• Fall 2010 General Membership Meeting

  November 4, 2010

  Plus One Flyers held their quarterly meeting with speakers from Plus One's CRQ fleet describing club operations at the new airport plus a nice presentation from Palomar Tower describing the do's and don'ts of operating on and around CRQ.   Members may vote electronically and immediately here [polls have closed] until 12PM July 22, or vote in person at the 22 July General Membership Meeting where nominated candidates will speak to the members and the final ballots counted. Nominations to the Board of Directors of Plus One Flyers will be accepted up until that that meeting!

• Plus One Flyers at McClellan-Palomar (CRQ) Open for Members!

  Plus One Flyers members may now fly club airplanes from CRQ!

  About 30 members attended the First Engine Start Event at CRQ. Now with five great member-owned airplanes available - check out Plus One Flyers CRQ, with the members' office in suite 200 of the Premier Jet FBO on the south side of the runway!

• EXCELLENT Spring 2010 General Membership Meeting 05/13

  One of our most informative meetings ever - everything you ever wanted to know about owning and operating an airplane in Plus One Flyers! This meeting featured presentations by our member airplane owners Tom Reid, Larry Massaro and John Barta, showing actual P&Ls, an example club monthly airplane activity accounting statement, cost-rental-pricing analysis spreadsheets for various airplanes, and the kinds of decision factors that owners must consider in their choice of airplane to balance the owner's needs with those of the club's pilot marketplace. Thanks especially to Tom, Larry and John, and thanks also to the members that attended the meeting! Also, congratulations to the winners of the $100 club Flight Review / Training time coupons and subscriptions to Aviation Safety magazine!
  

• OUTSTANDING Winter 2010 General Membership Meeting

  02/18 Thanks to the 137 members and guests who attended our winter membership meeting and our fourth annual guest FAA Safety Panel, featuring SOCAL ATC controller Bill Jacobs, MYF tower chief Tom Dray, San Diego Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) Operations Ty Parks, former FSDO FAASTeam leader Fred Christlieb and moderator Plus One Flyers Safety Officer Bob Agresto. After the club officer reports, club Vice President Bill Nellisenwas introduced, having been appointed by the Board of Directors on 02/11, and Plus One Flyers CRQ was announced to open in (updated date:) May 2010 with the introduction of CRQ Operations officer Kevin White. Congratulations also to the lucky 8 door prize winners including the four $100 club FR/training flight time certificates, four $25 certificates for Marv Golden's pilot shop, and the winner of the cash raffle! Don't miss the 2011 guest FAA Safety Panel!

• Plus One Flyers at McClellan-Palomar (CRQ) to Open in May 2010!

  Starting this May, Plus One Flyers members residing in north San Diego County will have the opportunity to fly club airplanes from CRQ! This long-awaited fulfillment of one of the club's Board of Directors' strategic objectives finally becomes a reality under the leadership of CRQ Operations officer Kevin White, who is now recruiting additional high-quality airplanes to the nucleated fleet he has already assembled. The club's CRQ tie-downs and office space will be located at Premier Jet, just west of the airport entrance and terminal. Check back for updates soon!

• MANDATORY CFI SAFETY MEETINGS

  All Plus One Flyers FAA-Certificated Flight Instructor members giving instruction, flight reviews or checkouts in club airplanes are required to attend at least one safety meeting within the previous six months. See the Safety Officer's Safety Page for meeting times and location details. All club members are invited to attend CFI safety meetings.

• Get the Word Out: We Need Airplanes!

  With club airplane demand at an all-time high, particularly for good Piper and Cessna trainers, this might perhaps be the best possible time to lease an airplane to the club at CRQ, SEE, RNM and MYF. To help, we've prepared a kit including a club brochure and example business model spreadsheets, available upon request to qualified prospective airplane owners. In addition to facilitating ownership cost offsets, the club may pay between 80% and 100% of extra wear or damage repairs not already covered by insurance, plus limited downtime revenue losses, through our exclusive Insurance Deductible Plan (IDP); the responsible member reimburses the club for up to 20%, with a maximum of $100 for insurance claims. Contact a club officer for the kit details.

• PLUS ONE FLYERS GOES MORE GREEN

  Our entire airplane fleet is being equipped with new GATS fuel sampling jars. The GATS jars allow multiple sample collections to be returned to the fuel tank and if used properly also strain out water and contaminants. Help protect our environment by using the GATS fuel sample jars, and be sure to keep them in the airplane!

• Plus One Flyers at Gillespie Field (SEE) ready for members!

  Unless he's out flying with a student as an FAA Gold Seal and Master CFI/CFII, SEE Operations Officer Dave Simpson will greet you at our new Gillespie club office, now open for your membership flying pleasure or training use with two computers, three ground school tables, a whiteboard, and more! You can unlock the door using your membership key. Dave is busy working to bring an IFR flight training device, additional airplanes, more CFIs and more member pilots to fly at Plus One Flyers SEE.   A whopping 46% reduction in aircraft insurance premiums paid by the club relative to 2006 rates highlights the success of the club's Safety Program and the collective excellent flying judgment, skills and habits of club members, and helps offset rising fuel costs!
